What We Do
From daily transactions to monthly reporting — ALC keeps the books accurate, BAS-ready, and out of your way for businesses across Melbourne, Geelong, and the Bellarine Peninsula.
Bookkeeping is the work that makes everything else in your business legible — who owes you money, what you owe, what you've spent, and whether your books will survive BAS time or an ATO query. Xero and MYOB record transactions. A bookkeeper makes sure they're categorised correctly, reconciled cleanly, and that the numbers actually reflect your business. The difference shows up at EOFY, at BAS time, and every time your accountant looks at your file.
Why ALC
Most bookkeepers can keep your records tidy. A registered BAS Agent does that — and is legally authorised to lodge directly with the ATO on your behalf. Not every bookkeeper can say that. Plenty don't mention it.
BAS Agent #26211942. Legally authorised to prepare and lodge your BAS with the ATO. Not all bookkeepers hold this registration.
Founded 2012. ALC has been through GFC aftershocks, COVID lockdowns, STP rollouts, and more ATO rule changes than anyone asked for. That history means fewer surprises for you.
No juniors. No offshore teams. When you call, Antoinette answers. When you email, Antoinette replies. That's the deal.
Whatever software your business already uses, ALC works in it. If it's the wrong tool for your size, Antoinette will tell you — and handle the switch.
Making the Switch
Collect your accounting software login (Xero, MYOB, etc.), bank feed access, and any outstanding paperwork — payroll records, BAS history, and prior financial reports.
Note whether your books are current or behind. Your new bookkeeper needs to know the starting point — and may need to complete a catch-up before taking over ongoing work.
If you need BAS lodgement, verify your new bookkeeper is a Registered BAS Agent. Not all bookkeepers hold this ATO registration — only Registered BAS Agents are legally authorised to lodge on your behalf.
Give reasonable notice to your current bookkeeper and request a file handover — including a trial balance, chart of accounts, and any outstanding reconciliations.
Grant access to your accounting software, bank feeds, and ATO business portal. Remove access for the previous provider once the handover is complete.
Confirm opening balances, outstanding reconciliations, and upcoming BAS or payroll deadlines. Most handovers take one short call to sort out the starting point — then ALC takes it from there.
Common Questions
Xero records your transactions — it doesn't know what to do with them. A bookkeeper reconciles your accounts, categorises correctly, manages payroll compliance, and prepares your books for BAS lodgement. Software is a tool; expertise is what keeps your books accurate.
Monthly bookkeeping with ALC includes bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable management, payroll processing (STP compliant), superannuation, and a monthly financial report. The scope is agreed upfront — most clients roll BAS preparation and lodgement into the same package.
ALC processes payroll including wage calculations, superannuation, PAYG withholding, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting directly to the ATO. We also manage WorkCover and payroll tax obligations. Payroll is processed on your schedule — weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.
